Astro Cameras
Currently Astro Cameras features two live streams from cameras in my garden in Aberdeenshire, Scotland, UK.
I stream an AllSky camera that displays Scotland's night sky and I have a seperate camera positioned to capture the Northern Lights (Aurora Borealis), when they appear.
Both of these cameras are shown on the nightly YouTube live stream, as well as photographs being shown here in real-time.
The night sky camera comes from a Raspberry Pi 5 mini-computer, using a Raspberry Pi HQ camera and a very wide lens. The lens captures 180 degrees of the sky. It is running on open source AllSky camera software.
As I've used a Raspberry Pi 5 with 16GB of RAM, I can run multiple cameras simultaneously. I added a Raspberry Pi AI camera to the system and wrote custom code to capture any aurora borealis that may be visible. The aurora camera is pointing towards the sky in the North.
Live Stream
You can watch the cameras live on the nightly streams shown on the Otherworld Photography YouTube Channel.
